Answer

I assume you are referring to the targeted announcements and university announcements that are routinely sent out about upcoming activities, events, opportunities at the university.

Neither university employees or students can opt out of these types of emails.

However, you can manage the emails you received from the university by using the filter functionality available within NMail.  Using the filters, you can direct emails with specific verbiage in the subject line or from a specfic party to be automatically moved to the various labels/categories within your NMail mailbox.

  1. Definitely having the same problem. The issue is not that the targeted announcements are 'routinely' set out, they're sent out 5-10 times a day. And yes, they discuss upcoming events, however, they do not seem to be targeted in any way - as in every single possible event or opportunity is emailed to every single student. There should really be a way to stop certain updates from filling up our school inbox. I've since decided to stop receiving notifications on my phone because of the ridiculous amount of emails I have to sort through and ultimately delete.

  2. please forward one of the emails to j-potillo@neiu.edu and I'll try to figure out where they are coming from.
