Q. Why am I seeing so much spam in my gmail spam folder?
With Nmail, you may see a fair number of messages going to the spam folder.
So, it's important to check that spam folder regularly and you can identify messages as not being spam (by removing the "spam" label) and they will be put into the "inbox" folder.
This will train Nmail to not put future messages of that type into spam.
The University is hoping to also make sure than any mail originating from neiu.edu addresses won't be marked as spam.
It's also important to note that the vast majority of spam doesn't make it that far and it blocked by Google before making it to our inboxes or spam folder. It's only those that are questionable that end up in the spam folder. So, you will need to review your spam folder regularly.
