Q. What is the "NEIU" network and why is it important to me ?

This is a secure WiFi connection that the University Technology Services is providing for the students and faculty/staff at Northeastern.

Connecting to the "NEIU" network is important for several reasons. When you are connected to the network, all of your communication over the internet (such as email) is encrypted, which means that it is protected from malicious attacks by people who might want to view this communication. This network also has added bandwidth, which means that it will run faster. In the future, any further bandwidth will be added to the secure "NEIU" network only.
